Spring 2011 Season Rules
(The following rules applied to the Spring 2011 Season.
Updates are expected for the Spring 2012 Season and will be posted as they become available. )


Length of Games

1)      JV Games - Four 12-minute running-clock quarters.

2)      Varsity Games - 

a.       Games beginning before 7:00pm: Four 12-minute stop-clock quarters.

b.      Games beginning at 7:00pm or later: Four 15-minute running-clock quarters. 

HRLax Boys High School Division Player Eligibility: 

Participation in a game is defined as being on the sidelines with gear and full team uniform.  Players without gear and/or in partial uniform available to help the team with stats, equipment, or water are NOT considered as participating in the game.

Age/Grade Eligibility 

1)      A player must be in 9th – 12th grade to be eligible to participate in the HRLax High School Boys League.

a.      Exception requests may be made in writing to the HS Commissioner.

b.      Exceptions will be considered for 8th grade athletes when the athlete is not age-eligible for U15. 

2)      To participate on a JV team the player must meet all following conditions:

a.       He must be in 9th or 10th grade ; or in 11th grade and meet the conditions of 1.2.b.

b.      If in 11th grade, he must be U17 (younger than 17 years-old on December 31st  prior game)

c.       Exception requests may be made in writing to the HS Commissioner. 

Multiple Team Play Rule 

1)  Each registered player will be assigned to a single HRLax team.  

2)  Each player shall play for the team to which they are assigned. 

3)  At no time shall a player be allowed to play for more than one team within their division.  

4)  At no time shall a player be allowed to play for any HRLax team outside their assigned division.

5)  No athlete may participate on two levels (e.g. junior varsity, varsity) on the same day. A student participating in two levels of competition on the same day is ineligible in the second competition and appropriate penalties will be assessed.

6)  Consequences for Multiple Team Play Rule violations: 

a.   Any player found in violation of these rules by playing for a HRLax team to which he/she is not assigned will be suspended for two games.  This will include ALL practices from the time of suspension until the expiration of the second game. 

b.   Any team found in violation of these rules by playing a player not assigned to their team will have their HEAD Coach suspended for two games.  This will include ALL practices from the time of suspension until the expiration of the second game. 

c.   Any subsequent violation of this rule may result in the suspension of the player & coach for the remainder of the season. 

Exemption:  Varsity or JV players who, WITH THE HIGH SCHOOL COMMISSIONER’S APPROVAL, are shifted from V to JV or from JV to V per the HS Divisional guidelines. 

Player Moves from Varsity to JV or JV to Varsity 

A JV-eligible player may play in the same club’s Varsity game if all following conditions are met: 

1)      The player participates in either Varsity game or JV game on that one day, but not both. 

2)      The player participates in a Varsity Game no more than two times during regular season play. 

a.       Participation in a third game results in disqualification from further participation in JV games. 

3)      The coach must list the player on an Additional Player Declaration/HS Commissioner Approval Form for that game.  The form must be verified and signed by the opposing coach prior to start of the game and available to be submitted to the HS Commissioner upon request. This document may be found on the Hey Coaches page under the Chapter menu tab.

A Varsity player retains JV team eligibility if all following conditions are met: 

1)   The player has participated in no more than two (2) Varsity games. 

2)   The player meets the U17 age requirements.

3)   The player participates in either Varsity game or JV game on that one day, but not both.

4)   The coach must list the player on an Additional Player Declaration/HS Commissioner Approval Form for that game.  The form must be verified and signed by the opposing coach prior to start of the game and available to be submitted to the HS Commissioner upon request. This document may be found on the Hey Coaches page under the Chapter menu tab.

 

Goalie criteria & exception(s) to Multiple Team Play Rule(5):

If the Varsity team goalie is unable to make a game due to injury, illness, conflicting school activity or in-game injury the following replacement steps must be followed if a goalie is to retain his JV-eligibility status:
 
Pre-game/pre-existing condition
1) Primary replacement goalie will come from current roster of Varsity players

2) If the team's only back-up goalie is the JV Team's goalie, JV Team goalie may play in 2 games on same day provided:
    a) Exception is PRE-APPROVED by the HS Commissioner on a case-by-case basis (prior to faceoff)
    b) Goalie may only play as goalie for both games - they are not allowed to play any other position
    c) Approval is limited to 1 (one) game...if subsequent sitations arise, each must be pre-approved by the HS Commissioner
 
In-game incident
1) Primary replacement goalie will come from current roster of Varsity players

2) If the team's only back-up goalie is the JV Team's goalie, JV Team goalie may play in 2 games on same day provided:
a) Only the JV Goalie may play - player's from other positions may not be enlisted to substitute

3) If an in-game incident requires replacement, the Head Coach will notify the HS Commissioner within 24hours IN WRITING
 
Notes:
1) Request for more than 2 game replacements in one season will render the player ineligible for JV play.

2) For goalies, game participation is charged only if he is in the game while the clock is running.
