HRLax Request For Proposal - League Management

A MESSAGE FROM THE HRLax PRESIDENT...

HRLax Family and Lacrosse Friends & Colleagues-

The HRLax Board of Directors (BOD) reviews annually all administration and operations, and is profoundly grateful for each and every volunteer who works to make our league fly.  Each year our 2200+ players and nearly 300 coaches and area coordinators come together from many areas between Williamsburg VA to Currituck NC, to play 800+ lacrosse games.  All this while encouraging our youth to be good contributing members of our community and responsible participants of the game we love.  The efforts of our volunteer organization to facilitate this league over the course of 10 weeks each spring is truly amazing.  Thank you.

As you are aware, there is an ongoing effort for the high school lacrosse programs in Hampton Roads to be included in the Virginia High School League (VHSL).  Our goal is to train and develop our players to compete at that level with the rest of state public high schools.  It is a dynamic process that will require an increased scope of work in addition to all the current requirements to run the league.

The BOD believes it is in the league's members' best interest to reorganize HRLax's administration and operational management through a professional organization.  Simply put, the current “All Volunteer” model supplemented by three paid part-time operators is no longer sufficient to manage the current and the future scope of operations to provide the best lacrosse possible.

With that, HRLax is soliciting professional management via the attached request for proposal (RFP) and league task list.  We are asking for proposals to be submitted not later than September 11th.  The BOD will review all proposals and select the best candidates for presentation of their proposal on September 13th at a southside location to be announced.  All responsible parties are welcomed and encouraged to provide a proposal.  Please read the linked documents, doing so will likely answer most questions.

To reiterate:

Suspense to email proposals to  and  : September 11th.

Accepted proposal presentations: September 13th / Location TBA

How does this impact the 2018 spring season, you ask? If a viable proposal is presented for league (some or all divisions) management is accepted, it will be implemented for the 2018 season.  Divisions of the league not impacted by an accepted proposal, if any, will continue under HRLax management.  All those currently participating in HRLax are encouraged to continue with their efforts "as usual" for 2018.  Regular updates and announcements will be provided to keep our membership informed of our progress.

The BOD looks forward to taking this next step to create a better experience for our current players and parents, to implement development programs to introduce the game to as many children as possible and to better develop the lacrosse skills and education of our players and coaches.  Our hope is to grow the game through our shared passion for this great game!

Best Regards - Jess

The HRLax League believes in fostering a lacrosse community that encourages understanding, appreciation, and acceptance of all by the league's players and parents, volunteer coaches, and league leadership.  Additionally, HRLax is committed to the belief that this broad representation, and participation, adds significantly to the lacrosse experience of all involved, and these experiences are further enhanced by the league's embracing of underrepresented and underserved communities.
